Alexander Rocher
Commentator, thought leader and labour lawyer.
I practiced as an attorney since 2005 after serving articles from 2003. I have been director or a partner of a large national (ENSafrica), medium sized (Cox Yeats) and boutique (Rocher Attorneys & Farrell Inc) law firms, and I have advised clients from multi-national corporates to large, medium and small sized businesses.
As all the very best employment lawyers do, I have litigated (personally) significantly in the CCMA, bargaining councils and labour courts.
At the softer edge, my experience includes advising and managing the complete lifecycle of employees, from recruitment to onboarding, probationary periods to disciplinary or poor work performance, from introducing or withdrawing benefits and incentives to the termination of employment. This includes significant exposure to industry main agreements, trade unions and collective labour challenges and successes.
During this time, as legal advisor and representative, it has been necessary for me to master the business, industry norms and standards, manufacturing and assembly processes, sales, franchising, marketing and distribution know-how, and financial systems of clients.
I also have much exposure to commercial legal work – as external employment counsel, one is exposed to industry’ concerns and issues across the spectrum and all legal facets of the business – since employment, union activity, and many commercial activities of business have an employment impact flow through.
While acquiring immense expertise in employment law, industrial relations and real-life dispute resolution, I also accumulated enormous insights into the psyche of the employer and employee. This critical skill informed my ability to give situational advice and scenario plan the successful execution of workplace opportunities by partnering with clients.
The Vantage Point – Strategic Employment Solutions (previously The Vital Vantage) offers bespoke retainer packages of differing service intensity at highly competitive prices, organisational health audits and no billable hours as a core value – all of which will, in time, set the industry standard.

Renita Punchoo
My innate passion for law saw me succeed in a career as a litigation attorney, and later as a specialist employment lawyer at a boutique Durban law firm, as well as obtaining an LLM in labour law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. To make a meaningful impact, my change agent philosophy led to a position as a national in-house employment counsel at the premier automotive manufacturer (Toyota South Africa Motors), an employer of some 8000 employees. I have engaged in the full spectrum of employment law and industrial relations advice gaining an intricate knowledge of industrial relations, employment and labour law and commercial law in the real-world setting. I have both client facing and service provider facing experience in the employment law industrial relations space.
After taking time out to start a family, my entrepreneurial ambition in achieving life-work brilliance culminated in co-founding The Vital Vantage.
The Vantage Point strategic business solutions brings together my years of training, experience, especially service provider facing experience, in a number of bespoke offerings.
